Campaigning for Medical Cannabis

As Political Director of the UPA, Jonathan is currently lobbying MPs to support medical cannabis legalisation. He feels that as there is a lot more research now highlighting its medicinal benefits, the time is appropriate to campaign on the subject and push for its legalisation.

Charlotte’s Web

Jonathan describes a strain called Charlotte’s Web, which is now grown in Colorado, U.S. specifically for children with epilepsy and seizures. It was named after Charlotte Figi, a small 5-year old girl who suffers from Dravet’s Syndrome that brings on multiple seizures a day. She was taking cannabis oil that reduced her seizures drastically.

Cannabis Vs. Alcohol

Jonathan compares the medicinal benefits of cannabis with the harmful effects of alcohol. He stresses that the UPA is confident about representing thousands of patients across the country on this issue.
